Spring Happenings

Hi everyone!
I am sorry for the delay in updating here. Being pregnant with my third has proven to be harder to keep up with life more so than my other pregnancies. If it is contageous, I have managed to get it. It sounds dramatic, but seriously! Flu, ear infection with ruptured ear drum and then PINK EYE??? Who gets Pink eye? The notice came home from the elementary school on a Friday, and who ends up getting it that weekend? Not my children...just pregnant me. Awesome. It was a lovely winter as you can imagine. As I am writing this, I am realizing I have less than 6 weeks before we get to meet our littlest one. 6 Weeks!? Where does the time go? We are getting excited. And the good news is, it is almost Spring, I can feel it in the air. This is the season where the flu usually leaves us and vitamin D starts filling our lives again. I have never been more excited for Spring to come...

So, enough with the drama. I am actually really attempting (and happily doing so) to hold just a few Spring workshops for the month of March. Just a few, but it is a great way to get in some work before I take my maternity leave. As my kids are getting older, I realize how hard afterschool commitments become. Workshops are a great way to go if you don't want the weekly commitment. Here is the lineup:

MARCH 2: SPRING BLOSSOMS CANVAS 1pm-4pm

Artists will each paint a 18x24 sized canvas and fill it with budding blossoming branches and little birds and nests with eggs and more. They will get to choose their own background sky and paint with a pallet knife in places to make it full of texture. If they want to add fabric elements to the canvas: bird wings, leaves on the tree etc. they are welcome to. After we paint it, paintings will be sealed for a gloss finish.
$95. unframed/ $120. framed in rustic redwood frame

MARCH 23: SPRING CENTERPIECES 1PM-4PM

Much like our Holiday centerpieces, Artists will get to choose a spring subject and make centerpieces out of them: rabbits, chickies, eggs, birds, owls, deer are just some thoughts. Each artist will get 3 cut outs of wood shaped in what they choose and they will paint them and add fabric, buttons, feathers and whatever else they want to them. After they are finished, they will be attached to wooden dowels and a base so you can put them on a table.
$95.

AND HERE IS THE CRAZY PART:
I have had so many requests for a Gargantuan Canvas Workshop, but it is hard to have them over the weekend because it is just 2 days of painting and we tried it once in the past and some of the kids felt pressure to finish in a certain amount of time. SO, I am offering a SPRING BREAK GARGANTUAN CANVAS CLASS. (It is only crazy because I am due April 7, but in the past I have taught my last class right up to my due date and both babies came after their due dates. So I am pretty confident things will work out with this class).

SO, if you want to do a big, HUGE painting, now would be the time! I don't know what my teaching schedule looks like for this summer yet, so jump in if you can.

APRIL 2-4 GARGANTUAN CANVAS 10AM-12PM
Big, huge canvas! Or 3 smaller canvases, whatever your preference is and depending on what kind of wall space you have available, this is a fantastic workshop to come to! All my kids love it!i offer it every year, and kids don't seem to tire of being able to paint huge.
$175. Here is the link from past.

All workshops are going to be held in SANTA CRUZ. I am finishing up teaching my weekly classes in APTOS this week and next. I will not be teaching weekly classes after next week. Please call or email if you have any questions or want to sign up: 831.588.5412 or kcellison@me.com Hope to see you soon!
