And That Led Us To This...

The previous post showed how we used fabric to experiment with color and so, for the next project (considering we were all more accustomed to color now) they were able to choose what complimentary color combination they wanted to work with. There were 3 still lives to choose from and they each worked at their own pace. I think they turned out pretty lovely.

Playing With Color

At the beginning of each year, my students and I go through some color theory together. We usually do a color wheel for the first class, but this year I wanted to branch out a bit and test how they really know color. So they all got to go through my fabric stash and choose a fabric they liked and wanted to work with. They traced it onto paper and then divided their project into at least 3 spaces (more for my advanced kids). They could choose any shape they wanted to divide with, and then paint the way the fabric was originally presented to them in one space. In the second space, they had to use the complimentary colors. The third space, my younger kids painted back to the original. But my older kids, did some tricky stuff, like went clockwise/counter clockwise on the color wheel for their other spaces. All of the projects were fun to make and made us all think through how color works. Whether they were big or small, this project was great to start with. Enjoy...

It is often the case that if you choose to do private lessons, it works just as well to do every other week (2 days per month) instead of weekly.

Private (one-on-one instruction) lesson fees: $50.00 per hour (does not include supply fee if working in large canvas, clay or mosaics)
Small Class (if you would like to get a specific small group together) fee: $50.00 for first child, $15.00 per child after that. Up to 5 kids.

All classes will require a $20.00 deposit to reserve a space for your child. All material fees are included in each price.
