FALL 2012 CLASS SCHEDULE

Okay, let's do this! Thank you everyone who responded/emailed me about my last post. You have no idea how much your words still mean to me. My update on kindergarten is: it is looking brighter! Change is hard no matter what. I think it's nice to see him making some friends, but I am prepared to have this be our transitional year, and take it day by day.
I am ready to teach here soon. Before I post my schedule, I need to let you know of an update in my teaching plan (speaking of a transitional year)... I am coming to Aptos again!!! It is true. I have been given a great opportunity to teach out of a beautiful, newly remodeled building located right in the middle of Aptos. And I am so excited. The actual address of the studio is: 8061 Aptos Street. It is sandwiched in between that adorable pink house and Aptos St. BBQ (used to be "The Bike Station" before they moved to Rancho Del Mar.) I actually was able to watch the remodel of this building take place this past year and know first hand of the care and quality put into it. It has beautiful wood floors, sinks with concrete counters, and even a HEATER! Yes, I am serious. A real heater (it seems like now would be a good time to thank all my faithful artists who have come to me all these years with many layers on to deal with the coldness of a little space heater...thank you!)
Now before I lose all my faithful Santa Cruz peeps, I need to let you know that I will be teaching just a couple classes still in my Santa Cruz Studio. AND that Aptos is just a few exits south from us. I promise, I am not going to the other side of the world. I also should remind you that the La Fonda bridge is out and the freeway is just crazy now for the next year, but I am hopeful things will be improving over the next 6 months (ugh...they did promise this right???)

So, here is the Fall Schedule. Please call me or email me to sign up or with any questions. I am really looking forward to working with you again. I am especially excited with my new classes I will be teaching.

A Late Start this Year

Hi everyone,
I am sorry I don't have the Fall schedule out yet. In years past, this is my week (always the week after Labor day weekend) to get classes started at the studio. Many of you have called and emailed and just to be clear, I am planning on teaching classes this fall. And I am even VERY excited about the classes I am teaching. But, there has been quite a change in this house as of late.

My five year old has started Kindergarten this year! (yay! trying to sound so excited here!)And while I would love to say, he loves it and can't wait to go everyday...I find myself needing to be honest and say, it's not quite working yet. I am hopeful as I write this, that this is just a big transition phase and maybe he needs some time (just like I do for most things), but either way, I need to be fully Mom for awhile.

Everyday has it's own little highs and lows (hey, he didn't cry the whole way home today!), and everyone in this family is affected by this change one way or another, so I think we need a solid month of getting used to a newly adjusted life before I start teaching again. On a personal standpoint, this is really hard for me! As a mom, it takes everything in me to not want to just scoop him up and take him back to a perfect little preschool environment and keep him tiny for the rest of his life. I know how I must sound, but i don't even care, because I believe every mom at one point has these moments, ridiculous or not. I happen to be in one now. The bottom line is, I believe in capable children becoming capable adults. If I were to scoop him up now, I think I would be sending him the message that I don't trust this life or him enough to put him in it. Hopefully soon, we can look back at this phase and be able to say, "remember when..." with a bit of a laugh.

My goal for teaching is going to start at the beginning of October. I might be putting in a workshop or two before then, but it seems like saying October 1st is the best start date.

Again, I am sorry for the delay. I think about all of you guys often and am so grateful I have been exposed to so many wonderful families over the years. In times like this, I think of you, and whatever your decisions have been with your kids and school, I deeply respect what you have done for your children. And even better that you trust me with them! To say I love my job is an understatement and so much of it has to do with my growing up people I get to work with. Thank you for sharing them with me! So, October it is! I will post the new schedule up this coming week. Mark my words, it will be posted! See you soon xo

SUMMER 2012

Summer has been here! We had a great crowd in here over the summer, all my workshops were full with some amazing little artists! I loved every minute of my workshops this past summer. Here are some of the examples I snapped with my camera:
Peacocks
Owls
Sparrows

More owls
Chickens
More peacocks
Tree Of Life

Pet's Portrait
Mosaics

Butterflies

Sidenote: My little guy is able to be in the studio now while I am teaching! VERY exciting for all of us! Sometimes creating his own masterpieces at his easel and sometime in class doing the same projects as everyone else. His brother has been a great little teacher for him too :)

and Zoo

I always love seeing the projects lined up for me the morning after a great workshop. It makes my day to be greeted this way. Thank you everyone for all the support you have given the studio this past summer. It is a beautiful life!
